Ep 21 šŸ’• The Science of Love, Stress & Letting Go with Justine Baruch

You are in for such a yummy conversation conversation on love, relationships, and the dance between masculine and feminine energy with my dear friend āŽÆ life, relationship, and executive coach Justine Baruch! She's dropping some serious wisdom on how biology, brain chemistry, and energy dynamics impact our relationships.

Justine has spent nearly two decades empowering ambitious, high-achieving women to move from overwhelm and self-sacrifice into lives of deep fulfillment and ease. She is known for cutting straight to the heart of the matter and helping women redefine success on their terms.

Redefining Success & True Prosperity

Many of us reach a point where, despite outward success, we crave something deeperā€”more fulfillment, more meaning, more spark in our relationships. Justineā€™s work moves beyond societyā€™s rigid definitions of success, helping women transform wealth into true prosperity and integrate personal growth into their daily lives.

The Biology Behind Relationship Dynamics

One of the most fascinating aspects of our conversation was the role of biology in relationshipsā€”especially in male-female dynamics. While many of us consider ourselves to be in evolved, progressive partnerships, Justine breaks down the science of how men and women process emotions, handle stress, and communicate differently. Spoiler alert: You cannot out-learn biology!

The Mirror Neuron System vs. The Temporal Parietal Junction

Women predominantly process emotions using the Mirror Neuron System (MNS), which allows for deep empathy and emotional mirroring. This is why, when weā€™re stressed, we often just want to talk it outā€”because verbal processing increases oxytocin, which helps regulate our cortisol levels.

Men, on the other hand, tend to default to the Temporal Parietal Junction (TPJ), an analytical system that seeks solutions rather than emotional validation. So, when your partner immediately jumps to fixing the problem instead of just listening, itā€™s not because heā€™s insensitiveā€”itā€™s literally how his brain is wired!

Why Men Need Space & Women Need Connection

When men are stressed, they need testosterone to regulate their cortisol levels. This often means taking spaceā€”going for a run, zoning out with a video game, or just sitting in silence. Meanwhile, women thrive on connection and verbal processing. If a man withdraws and a woman pushes for conversation, it can create friction.

Justineā€™s advice? Feelings first, facts later. When a woman is venting, the best response from a partner is simple: ā€œTell me more.ā€ Letting her talk without offering solutions allows her cortisol to drop and makes space for a more productive discussion.

How Perfectionism & Overworking Hurt Women

One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation? Women are chronically overworkedā€”not just in their careers, but in their relationships. The female brain is wired for multitasking, constantly scanning for what needs to get done. Men, however, are single-task focused and tend to operate with a cost-benefit mindsetā€”only doing what is essential in the moment.

This is why so many women find themselves exhausted while their male partners seem to have more energy. They rest when they need to, while we push through. The problem? This chronic over-functioning fries our adrenals, leading to burnout and long-term hormonal imbalancesā€”especially post-menopause.

Learning From the Masculine: The Art of Rest

Hereā€™s the kicker: Women need to borrow from menā€™s biology and learn how to rest. Justine suggests actively practicing this by:

  • Allowing yourself to receive help instead of always doing everything yourself

  • Taking a transition period after work to shift out of masculine energy and into feminine flow

  • Honoring your cycle and syncing social activities, rest, and productivity accordingly

Bringing More Play & Pleasure Into Your Life

Beyond just understanding relationship dynamics, Justineā€™s work is also about pleasure. She emphasizes the importance of cultivating joy, play, and relaxation in both life and love. Whether itā€™s scheduling game nights, dance parties, or simply carving out time to enjoy your relationships, bringing intentional fun into your routine is crucial.

Work Smarter, Not Harder: Bringing Feminine Energy Into Business

As entrepreneurs, many of us lean hard into masculine energyā€”strategy, execution, logic. But Justine encourages us to explore the power of feminine energy in business, tooā€”intuition, flow, and receiving. Whether itā€™s allowing yourself to rest without guilt or embracing your natural magnetism in sales and marketing, balancing both energies is key.

Final Thoughts: Letā€™s Redefine Love & Success

This conversation was so nourishing, and I hope it offered you as many lightbulb moments as it did for me. Whether youā€™re navigating a romantic relationship, working on your business, or simply trying to create a life that feels good, the key takeaway is this: You donā€™t have to do it all, all the time. There is power in rest, in connection, and in understanding the natural rhythms that shape us.
